NEWS: WhiskyDC Tastings Banned by Virginia Scottish Games Due to Glenfiddich

Print Copy for Distribution: WhiskyDC Tastings Banned by Virginia Scottish Games Due to Glenfiddich

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 19, 2011

Two weeks before the opening of the 2011 Virginia Scottish Games, WhiskyDC received the following statements from Alexandra Murray, Board of Directors, Virginia Scottish Games Association:

We have brought Glenfiddich on this year as a sponsor. They will be doing whisky tastings in the Hospitality Tent both days. Because one of the board members wanted to bring a new whisky program in, we have discussed with them having other whisky tastings/seminars going on at the games and they were not particularly happy about it.

So, the sum total of it is that I would ask you to not do any tastings this year so that we not have a conflict of interest with Glenfiddich.

We have worked for several years to bring a major whisky brand on board again as a sponsor and simply put, we are not messing with it this year. This is a VSGA decision, not a Glenfiddich decision.

WhiskyDC is not sponsoring a tent at the 2011 Virginia Scottish Games, which is refunding our tent fee.

WhiskyDC is banning all Glenfiddich products from all WhiskyDC tastings.

WhiskyDC is also banning all products of parent company William Grant & Sons. This includes Grant's, Balvenie, Tullamore Dew, Clan MacGregor, Ladyburn, The Famous Grouse, The Macallan, and Highland Park.
